Sustainability

At Cluney Constructions Pty Ltd it makes sense that we would have a commitment to the environment.  When you work in schools, the future is in front of you every day and we want to make our world a better place for the students who currently walk up and down our ramps, or sit on our decks eating their lunch.

What are we doing about it?

Our Energy Efficient Factory

We have a huge bank of solar panels; which means we can run our factory off solar power around 80% of the time.  However, solar power only works when the sun is shining.  We are currently investigating wind generated power to make up the remaining 20% of our energy use.

Only 100% Australian Steel

We value Australian manufacturing and consider material kilometres travelled when selecting our products.  We only use 100% Australian steel which we source from a local supplier.  Wherever possible we use reconstituted plastic decking product such as ModWood and Australian timbers.  This is based on client requests which are always a priority.

Our Carbon Offset Program

Our accessibility ramps are lined with marine grade carpet.  The offcuts are put to good use in our tree planting program.  One of our staff members propagates native trees and plants them to help reduce our carbon footprint.  The carpet is used to keep moisture in the soil around the trees and to suppress weeds.  Over time the carpet degrades naturally.  This is not only great for the trees, but also helps to reduce landfill and while we are talking about landfill, all steel offcuts are sent for recycling.
